Many studies have been conducted showing the correlation between lowering LDL cholesterol levels and the reduction of cardiovascular events, such as heart attack and stroke. Some risk factors for a cardiovascular event include hypertension, obesity, high cholesterol, depression and diabetes. There are ways you can prevent a cardiovascular event: limit alcohol consumption to less then 1-2 drinks/day, cut down on stress, don’t smoke, exercise, and eat foods that are free of trans fats.
